Trajectory
Direct ascent on an Atlas-Centaur, with vernier-engine course corrections during the 64-hour cruise. The final-approach retrorocket burn decelerated Surveyor 1 from 2.6 km/s to 4 m/s touchdown velocity, the first fully-successful U.S. lunar soft landing.
