About
Founded in 2013 in Houston, Intuitive Machines builds Nova-class lunar landers under NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program. The Nova-C lander carries roughly 100 kg of payload to the lunar surface; the larger Nova-D, in development, will carry over 500 kg.
IM-1 (Odysseus) was the first U.S. soft landing on the Moon since 1972 and the first commercial landing by any operator. Each subsequent mission has aimed closer to the south polar region, where water ice in permanently-shadowed craters is the operational prize.
