About
Established 1958 from NACA. NASA executed every U.S. crewed lunar mission of the Apollo program and orchestrates the modern Artemis return. Beyond crewed exploration, NASA runs the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program, contracting commercial landers to deliver science instruments at scale and on a budget.
Active and upcoming lunar missions include Artemis I (uncrewed, flown), Artemis II (crewed flyby), Artemis III (crewed south polar landing with SpaceX Starship HLS), and the VIPER water-ice prospecting rover.
